A Spring inspired tablescape

This March, we’re designing for a few events, one of which has a very strong Spring feel. We’ll share the exact route being developed at a later stage but couldn’t resist sharing one of the other initial routes that we really loved. When designing a Spring tablescape, we really want to try and capture the feeling of the season, the promise and the excitement. We adore Summer and all it brings, but Spring is a special start and introduction to that, and we want to do it justice.

This route was inspired by the blossom of the season – as this pops up around the country, it fills the air with a flurry of pink and white petals. From our windows, trees billow with heavy florals, and the colour pops against the daffodils and the green grass feels so joyful. We also love the opening of rosé season which we feel comes in very soon – just in time for the long lunches of Easter.

This look aims to capture the movement of blossom, the texture and richness of the colours of the moment, and the warmth starting to break through after the grey of Winter. The table needed to feel as if you could sit here for hours, enjoying the food, the setting and the company. The luxury of time and warmth encapsulated in the design.

It was important that within the table we captured the movement and texture of Spring. Outside, we see shoots start to pop through the soil, the blossom is blossoming and daffodils with their frilled trumpets, move gently in the breeze. Within this look, we have included texture with the ruffled, dotted edge of the plate, the stippled texture to the amber waterglass, the grooved detailed on the cutlery and the gently fluted glassware. Combining this with a floral arrangement with lots of movement and shape feels like the right tone.

This look does have a feminine feel to it however certain elements such as the chair and water glass feel more sturdy and have a heavier feel in order to balance that. The fabric of the tablecloth, a rich velvet, also has the same effect. We see the deeper colours giving a richness to the table – the dark pink cloth, the amber in the wood of the chair and the glass of the tumbler. We then lift this with the bright metallic of the gold cutlery and the pale pink plate. Finally we enhance it all with creams, whites and blush tones in the florals. We love the end result and know we’d happily sit here for a Spring feast, maybe even if we’re lucky, outdoors!
