V&A East Storehouse - the venue we can't stop thinking about

We could not resist sharing these images with you of the very new, very exciting V&A East Storehouse looking magnificent. It’s not every day that a new museum pops up in London and to be fair this one has been a long time in the making, but it’s absolutely one of the coolest openings we’ve seen in a long time. We are huge fans of V&A South Kensington and we’re dying to deliver an event at the Young V&A so when this venue opened, naturally we were very interested.
This event though, sealed the deal for us. And we’ll tell you why.
V&A East Storehouse is the perfect example of a contemporary event space that offers a unique blend of cutting-edge design, cultural significance, with unique event experience and a grounding through the concept and collections it holds.

If you’re not familiar with the venue and it’s collections, the best way to describe it is a working museum that houses the V&A collections. It’s like stepping into a giant filing system of sorts – if the filing system was 20 metres high and housed hundreds of thousands of objects. The collection knows no bounds and you’ll see everything from a pair of shoes to pottery, an ancient ceiling to a vintage uniform and much more. The space has capacity to hold 250,000 objects, 350,000 books and 1,000 archives as well as having space to process and care for these objects. The first time our team saw this space, they said they had an emotional response to it. Almost a reaction to the gravitas of seeing all these items together in one place. We have never seen anything like it, it is truly unique and what a backdrop for an event.
The main events space beyond the reception area is the Weston Collections Hall. As you’ll see in these images, dinner on three long tables looks incredible. You sit surrounded by the artefacts which gives such a varied backdrop. With the collections subtly lit it feels as if you’re really stepping behind the scenes and in an almost secret space. Location wise, the venue is set within the Olympic park meaning it has great connections – you’re looking at about 35-40 minutes by tube or car travel time which isn’t bad at all.
